It might still be a hundred days out from the Paris Olympics, but Christchurch's Maddie Davidson is ready.
"I feel settled. I've found my feet.. this is my place now," Davidson said.
The 25-year-old made history at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, becoming the first woman to represent New Zealand in trampolining. She came 10th out of 16 athletes.
Now, with added experience, she's ready to jump even higher – literally.
"The thing about trampolining is it's anyone's game on the day. It's not necessarily always the best trampolinist that wins – it's who can hold it together on the day," she said.
"I think I can hit top eight, but I wouldn't rule a medal off the table either."
In order to do that, the current world number 10 is prioritising work with her long-term sports psychologist.
"I see him once a week but can bump that up any time I need it," she said. "It's just so important in a sport like this.
"Anyone can do a back-flip – it's getting that through your head that's the tough part."
Davidson's currently working towards pulling off a trick that's rarely seen in competitions.
Should she successfully unveil it in Paris, it would potentially launch her into podium contention.
"Not a lot of girls out there are doing it which makes it a really exciting skill for me to be one of those first people completing it," she said.
"It's hard. It's hard on the body and it's hard to do mentally as well so we're training it, we're seeing how it goes but it's pretty exciting to be able to be working it."
Davidson will continue training out of her Christchurch gym, Olympia Gymnasium, before heading abroad in early June.
