With Father's Day fast approaching (Sunday, June 16), now is the perfect time to plan something special for the father figure in your life - and support some homegrown businesses while you're at it.

Below are just a few ideas from around the country, whether they be nostalgic mugs made in Offaly or a spot of axe throwing in Wicklow.

Jerry Can Company*

Since 2017, the Jerry Can Company has been creating handcrafted mini bars along with a collection of bespoke gifts. The family-run business uses premium Gelg quality jerry cans and pine wood interiors to give their pieces "rustic elegance". While the original mini bar costs €182, their tumbler glass gift set comes in at €55.

Based in Ballymount, but stocked in Brown Thomas Dublin, the menswear shop has flourished since it first began in 2018. Janni

From its base in Longford, online retailer Janni Bars creates a wide range of skin-loving products, made with natural ingredients and presented in sustainable packaging. Their newest shampoo and conditioner bars, named after the Irish warrior hero, Cu Chulainn, are made with Coconut Charcoal for a deep cleanse, and Green Coffee Oil to awaken hair follicles.
