Sprinter Danielle Aitchison carries New Zealand's medal hopes into day four of the Paris Paralympics, when she contests the women's T36 20 metres final at Stade de France.

World recordholder and world champion Aitchison, 23, powered through the heats in a new Games record of 28.09s, more than half a second faster than defending champion Shi Yiting of China.

The Kiwi holds the world mark at 27.47s and looked capable of challenging that under pressure of a final.

New Zealand's only medal so far at Paris is the silver won by track cyclist Anna Taylor in the C4 3000m individual pursuit and teammate Nicole Murray will line up in the C5 event, where she has finished world championship runner-up three times.
