Emergency services have been kept busy this evening attending three separate incidents of pedestrians being struck by vehicles around the country.
In Auckland, Puhinui Rd in Papatoetoe is closed after a pedestrian was struck by a car at 6.40pm.
"The pedestrian was critically injured and has been transported to hospital," a police spokesperson said.
New Zealand Transport Agency said Puhinui Rd remained closed, and motorists were asked to follow the diversions in place
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
In a separate incident, police officers in Hamilton responded to a report of a pedestrian being injured after being struck by a car on Deseret Rd at 6.45pm this evening.
St John said it sent two ambulances and one rapid response vehicle.
"We transported two [people] to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition."
Also in Waikato, State Highway 23 in Raglan was closed after a person was reportedly hit by a vehicle this evening.
Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car on State Highway 23 between Te Mata Rd and Nau Mai Rd at 6.55pm.
"We don't have any injury status that we can confirm at this stage," a spokesperson said.
New Zealand Transport Agency said the road was closed at the intersection of Te Mata Rd, Raglan.
"Diversions are in place. Expect long delays," it said.
St John confirmed it sent one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one operations manager to the scene.
"We are assessing a patient in moderate condition," a spokesperson said.
St John referred to police for further comment.
