Auckland player wins Lotto's $17 million Powerball prize

One Lotto player from Auckland has won $17.07 million with Powerball First Division in tonight's Lotto draw.

Tonight's winning numbers were: 40, 4, 9, 33, 2 and 8. The Bonus ball was 17, and the Powerball was 8.

The prize was made up of $17 million from Powerball First Division and $71,429 from Lotto First Division, sold on MyLotto to a player from Auckland.

The jackpot hit $17m after Wednesday's $15m draw wasn't struck.

Thirteen other lucky Lotto players won $71,429 with Lotto First Division tonight.

The winning tickets were sold at New World Waikanae in Waikanae, Arrowtown Night 'n Day in Arrowtown, and on MyLotto to players from Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Wellington.

Meanwhile, Strike Four has rolled over tonight and will be $1.1 million on Wednesday night.

Tonight's winner becomes the fifteenth Powerball multi-millionaire of 2024.

Last month a lucky Auckland family took home the largest ever prize in Lotto NZ history - winning a life-changing $44.67 million.
