A second-round 71 left professional debutant Sara Byrne just four shots off the lead at the La Sella Open at the halfway stage.
The Cork golfer, competing for the first time on the Ladies European Tour since turning pro, carded a round that included four birdies and three bogeys.

She is tied for 15th with eight other players on three-under par heading into the weekend, four shots adrift of Kirsten Rudgeley, Sara Kouskova and Virginia Elena Carta, all tied at the top of the leaderboard on seven-under.
A birdie at the last saw Lauren Walsh sneak inside the cut after posting a round of 69. She will begin on Saturday morning on level par.
Olivia Mehaffey failed to make the cut. Up against it after an opening round 75, the 26-year struggled in a round that included five bogeys and a double-bogey at 13 to finish on seven-over par.
The trio of Rudgeley, Kouskova and Carta all finished the end of the second day on seven-under-par with two rounds to go in Alicante.
Australia's Rudgeley followed up her first round of 68 (-4) with a 69 (-3) on day two which included six birdies and three bogeys.
The 23-year-old is staying at her uncle’s house this week as he only lives 15 minutes away from the course and is enjoying her time in Spain.
"It’s been good fun actually," said Rudgeley. "Me and Harry [her caddie] are working really well [together], enjoying the golf course, just plotting my way around but it’s good fun.
"My uncle lives not far from here, but it’s nice to go back to his and feel like home and have your home-cooked meals and just relaxing instead of being in your hotel room and constantly thinking about golf."
