Guro Reiten's 50th goal for Chelsea inspired the Blues to a 3-1 Women's Champions League group stage victory over Dutch side FC Twente.

Aggie Beever-Jones fired the visitors into a seventh-minute lead in Enschede before a stunning long-range effort from Maika Hamano doubled their advantage before the break.

Reiten’s spot-kick made it three after the restart, but the visitors were able to claw a consolation back via Nikee van Dijk in the 68th minute.

Sonia Bompastor’s Women’s Super League champions occupy top spot in Group B after now making it two group stage wins from two.

Earlier on Thursday, in the same group, Celtic were put to the sword as they lost 4-0 to Real Madrid in the Spanish capital.

An early stunner from Scotland international Caroline Weir set Real on their way before late goals from Signe Bruun, Caroline Moller and Linda Caicedo made it a chastening evening for Celtic.

Republic of Ireland forward Saoirse Noonan played the last 20 minutes, replacing Amy Gallacher.

Real Madrid's Caroline is challenged by Amy Gallacher and Natalie Ross of Celtic

Elena Sadiku’s side may still look at it as a decent result as their hosts peppered the goal with 29 shots throughout a dominant evening.

Victory gets the Spanish side on the board in Group B after they lost in the opening round of fixtures, while Celtic have lost both of their games.

Sadiku was proud of her side despite the scoreline.

"I am very proud of the girls; we competed against one of the biggest clubs in the world for 70 minutes," she told Celtic TV.

"We worked really hard in the defence, tried not to concede any goals – the first goal they score is high quality from high-quality players.

"Overall, how we tried to play shows that we learned a lot and to be able to play against Real Madrid the way we did is something I am very proud of.

"The effort is superb and we all need to remember this is just a start of the journey, nobody believed we would be here.

"To be here now with this experience, the girls living the dream is something we need to learn from and take with because the effort and the confidence they showed shows we are here to compete.

"Losing 4-0 is something I don’t think we deserve.

"I’ve said it from the start, this experience we want to learn a lot from, but also grow because this performance needs to give the girls confidence."

In Group A, Lyon won the battle of the previous two seasons' runners-up, winning 2-0 in Wolfsburg thanks an early Wendie Renard header and second-half penalty from Lindsey Horan.

Both teams have lost finals to Barcelona since the French side triumphed over the Catalans in 2022.

Roma hit the front after just seven minutes at Galatasaray and ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.
