Euro round-up: Atalanta and Lille both stage comebacks

Atalanta maintained their push for Champions League qualification after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Serie A bottom side Salernitana.

Loum Tchaouna had given the already-relegated hosts a shock early lead against the Europa League semi-finalists.

Atalanta, chasing a win to move back into the top five, equalised shortly before the hour through Gianluca Scamacca.

Teun Koopmeiners then curled in a 25-yard effort after 63 minutes as Atalanta chalked up a third-straight Serie A win, moving above Roma on goal difference and with a match in hand.

Napoli's hopes of qualifying for the Europa Conference League suffered a setback after relegation-battlers Udinese snatched a 1-1 draw in a stoppage-time.

Victor Osimhen’s header broke the deadlock early in the second half and he then saw another late effort ruled out by VAR.

It proved costly as with two additional minutes played, Isaac Success stabbed in an equaliser for the home side, who now sit just two points behind 17th-placed Empoli with three matches left.

Napoli – last season’s champions – move up to eighth, but are only a point ahead of Fiorentina, having played a game more.

Mama Balde struck late for Lyon

In Ligue 1, Lyon produced a dramatic late fightback to win 4-3 at Champions League hopefuls Lille.

The hosts had looked in control after Bafode Diakite headed in a free-kick and Edon Zhegrova drilled home a 20-yard effort shortly before the break.

Said Benrahma pulled a goal back in the 66th minute, which was allowed to stand after a VAR check for offside, and Malick Fofana levelled things up with eight minutes to go.

Diakite then thought he had then headed in a late winner for Lille.

However, Alexandre Lacazette struck from close range in the 88th minute before Mama Balde completed a remarkable turnaround in added time as Les Gones kept alive their own European ambitions.
