Carolina Panthers opt against offering Rory Beggan NFL deal

The Carolina Panthers have opted against offering Rory Beggan a contract after the Monaghan goalkeeper's try out with the NFL side this week.

Beggan took part in the NFL's International Player Pathway earlier this year, impressing with their kicking abilities at the NFL Combine, a programme which allows team to scout new talent.

After returning home to feature for Monaghan in their Ulster championship loss to Cavan, he returned to America this week to try and earn a kicking deal, but was unsuccessful. He may be invited to try out with other teams.

Wicklow goalkeeper Mark Jackson is currently trying out with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Down’s Charlie Smyth and Derry’s Jude McAtamney have signed deals with the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants respectively in recent weeks.
