Tiarnán O'Donnell picked up his second World Cup silver medal of the season in the PR2 Men's single on day two of racing in Poznan.
Limerick's O'Donnell put in another strong performance in the PR2 Men's Single. Moving into second place straight off the start, O'Donnell held his ground to the line securing his podium position.
Team-mate Steven McGowan narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing just half a second behind the sculler from Germany to take fourth place. In an incredible push for the line, McGowan was the fastest boat through the final 500 meters but it was just short of getting his bowball ahead of Paul Umbach for the bronze medal.
The Men's Pair of John Kearney and Jack Dorney finished out their World Cup this afternoon with a second place finish in the B Final of the Men's Pair. Having just missed out on qualification to the A Final finishing third in their repechage and with only two to progress, Kearney and Dorney were up again just two hours later.
From the start, Ireland held off the two Romanian pairs, increasing their gap as the race progressed. In the last quarter, Ireland were the fastest boat on the water and brought it right down to half a second to the leading GB pair.
It's into the race for medals for Phil Doyle and Daire Lynch in the Men's Double. An extremely tight second place finish in their A/B Semi this morning behind New Zealand secured their spot in tomorrow's main event.
Robbie Manson and Jordan Perry took the initial lead, and sat two seconds ahead of Doyle and Lynch coming through the halfway mark. Over the following 1000m, Ireland pushed on again, reducing that gap to just .2 of a second as they crossed the finish line.
They go head to head with Germany, France, New Zealand, Poland and GB in the fight for medals tomorrow morning at 8:48am.
A fifth place finish in the Men's Single A/B Semi sees Konan Pazzaia into tomorrow mornings B Final. Pazzaia was in touching distance of third place coming into the final quarter, sitting three seconds behind the Brazilian sculler.
It wasn't to be in that final stint of the race with Ireland falling back to fifth place. Konan is first up for the Irish boats tomorrow morning for the Men's Single B Final.
