Leona Maguire has missed the cut as world number one Nelly Korda continued her bid for a fifth straight win after shooting 69 in round two at the Chevron Championship.

Maguire had made solid starts to the first major of the season, but a second-round 76 saw her fall to four-over par for the tournament, two shots over the cut-line.

Starting on the 10th, Maguire's front and back nines both featured three bogeys against one birdie to end her major hopes early.

Stephanie Meadow shot a 72 and sits on one-under par, seven shots behind joint leaders Jin Hee Im and Atthaya Thitikul, who share top spot on eight under par after posting matching scores of 69 and 67 in the first two rounds.

25-year-old Korda sits one stroke behind the joint leaders. She is seven-under par after carding a 69 in the second round on Friday, making her one of three players to score two rounds in the 60s this week, alongside the leaders.

After winning the LPGA Drive On Championship in January, Korda then won three events in the space of three weeks and victory this week would tie her with Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez for most wins in consecutive starts on the LPGA Tour, but the American insists she is not getting too ahead of herself.

FULL LEADERBOARD

"I’m just at the halfway point right now. The amount of golf that I’ve played, I still have that to go," Korda told the LPGA website.

"There is still a lot of golf left and anything can happen. Just going to stick to my process and 'vibe with it,’ is what my coach says."
