Leona Maguire is among the eight automatic qualifiers for the European Solheim Cup team to face the USA next month.

Maguire joins Celine Boutier, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Carlota Ciganda and Madelene Sagström as those qualifying via the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings following the Women's Open, in which Maguire finished 37th.

Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit qualify from the LET Solheim Cup points list.

The other four places on the European side will be named by captain Suzann Pettersen from 4pm on Monday, with the 19th edition of the biennial event taking place at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, from 13-15 September.

For Maguire it will be her third appearance in the biennial tournament. Her debut in 2021 saw her finish as the leading points scorer for Europe, winning 4.5 points from 5.

Last year, she emerged as a star for the second competition in a row as the side recovered from a 4-0 deficit after Friday's foursomes to tie the match at 14-apiece and retain the Cup for Europe.

The Co Cavan native led the charge for Team Europe in Sunday's singles, demolishing Rose Zhang 4&3 to get the hosts' first point on the board.

Speaking about her team, captain Pettersen said: "The European team is looking great right now for the 2024 Solheim Cup. Congratulations to the eight players who have automatically qualified.

"We have so much experience on the team but it's also great to have Esther making her Solheim Cup debut this year. The European players have been putting in great performances this year and we’re excited for September."
