Eben Etzebeth will miss South Africa's crunch Rugby Championship meeting with New Zealand in Johannesburg on Saturday, with Pieter-Steph du Toit named for a rare appearance at second row due to the Springboks' lock shortage.
Etzebeth is the latest second row to join a length injury list for Rassie Erasmus' side, who are also without Franco Mostert, Lood de Jager, Salmaan Moerat, RG Snyman and Jean Kleyn.
Du Toit moves from openside flanker to partner Ruan Nortje of the Bulls in the second row, with Erasmus making nine changes to his side from the recent 30-12 win against Australia in Perth.
The pair are the only players to keep their place in the starting pack, as first-choice front row Ox Nche, Bongi Mbonambi and Frans Malherbe all return for the World Cup final rematch with the All Blacks at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Siya Kolisi comes back in to captain the side, while Ben-Jason Dixon and Jasper Wise also return to the starting team.
Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu continues at out-half with Cobus Reinach peferred at scrum-half, while Damian de Allende returns at inside centre to partner Jess Kriel in midfield.
The final change sees Kurt-Lee Arendse return on the left wing, with Makazole Mapimpi dropping out, and Cheslin Kolbe and Aphelele Fassi completing the back three.
While the world champions have gone with a 6:2 split on the bench, there is no recognised second row included among the replacements, with Marco van Staden, Elrigh Louw and Kwagga Smith listed as the loose forards, and Grant Willians and Handre Pollard covering the backline.
