Katie-George Dunlevy and pilot Eve McCrystal have claimed a fifth-placed finish in the Para cycling women's b 1000m time trial.
The pair had clocked a time of 1:09.094 in their heat, placing them fifth overall heading into the final.
USA's Hannah Chadwick was first out of the six-strong field and set a time to beat of 1:10.187, and next out, Dunlevy did just that as she temporarily moved to the top of the leaderboard with a time of 1:09.447 as the Irish pair came strong in the final half of the race.
From there, Great Britain were set to have a big say on proceedings taking up three of the four remaining final spots, and the first of those - Lora Fachie – just bumped Dunlevy into second with a time of 1:09.181.
With real sprinting class to come, that looked ominous for Ireland’s medal chances and so it came to pass with the final three riders taking the medals, Sophie Unwin of GB (bronze), Jessica Gallagher of Australia (silver) and winner, Great Britain’s Elizabeth Jordan with a time of 1:06.976.
Earlier in the heats, Josephine Healion and her pilot Linda Kelly missed out on the final but were remaining positive having set a PB.

"That’s all we could have asked for really for today and myself and Linda have been just growing on the track in the last year – strength-by-strength every time and we’re always learning."
