Premier League wrap: Toffees crumble as Bournemouth snatch late win at Everton, Aston Villa hold on for victory at Leicester

Luis Sinisterra scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Bournemouth left it late to come from 2-0 down and stun Everton 3-2 to put more pressure on Sean Dyche.

The hosts looked to be cruising after second-half goals from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin rewarded some fine attacking play, but it all unravelled at the death.

Antoine Semenyo's 87th minute tap-in was only Bournemouth's second shot on target but moments later Lewis Cook headed them level in the second minute of added time.

Worse was to come, and Jordan Pickford had to make saves from both Marcus Tavernier and Semenyo before Sinisterra found space to nod in Justin Kluivert's cross, with Everton's players slumping on to the Goodison turf in disbelief.

After conceding seven times in opening defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, Everton had looked much improved as they dominated the vast majority of the match, but the way they threw it away at the end begs huge questions as they hope to avoid yet another scrap at the foot of the table.

Republic of Ireland and Everton captain Seamus Coleman played all 90 minutes for the Toffees but defensive summer signing Jake O'Brien, who started in the midweek Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers, was not called upon.

Amadou Onana and substitute Jhon Duran were on target as Aston Villa returned to winning ways with a 2-1 Premier League win at Leicester.

Ollie Watkins was twice denied by Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen but Villa set-piece coach Austin MacPhee saw his work pay off after Onana rounded off a well-worked move from a dangerous free-kick to give the visitors a half-time advantage.

The King Power Stadium is proving to be a happy hunting ground for Villa, who are now unbeaten in their last four visits.

Jamie Vardy had a goal ruled out after the ball hit the referee in the build-up but Duran climbed off the bench to double Villa's advantage, while deadline-day signing Facundo Buonanotte's effort proved to be just a consolation.

Leicester winger Kasey McAteer, who earned his first call-up to the Ireland squad ahead of next week's UEFA Nations League opener against England, was a late substitute.

Aaron Ramsdale's Southampton debut was spoiled after goals from Bryan Mbeumo (2) and Yoane Wissa lifted Brentford to a 3-1 victory at GTech Community Stadium.

Ivan Toney, whose departure to Saudi side Al-Ahli was announced in the early hours of Saturday morning, watched from the stands to see how his former side would get on without him.

Mbeumo issued a promising answer with his second goal of the new Premier League campaign just before the break, before netting his third after the restart.

Nathan Collins in action against the Saints

Wissa then bundled home to hand the hosts a comfortable lead, with Yukinari Sugawara ending Southampton's wait for a Premier League goal late on.

The hosts' line-up, which included Boys in Green centre-back Nathan Collins, was most notable for the absence of striker Toney, while the immediate inclusion of newly-signed Ramsdale marked the only change made by Saints boss Russell Martin, who included Ireland midfielder Will Smallbone in his eleven but the 24-year-old was withdrawn for the second half.

Ireland winger Chiedozie Ogbene made his league debut for Ipswich as the Premier League newcomers picked up their first point of the season following a competitive 1-1 draw with Fulham at Portman Road.

Kieran McKenna's men had been handed a tough return to the top flight and fell to successive defeats against Manchester City and Liverpool, but a wonderful long-range effort from Liam Delap gave them their first home goal of the campaign.

Adama Traore levelled proceedings before the break and both sides were unable to break the deadlock after the interval.

Ogbene arriving at Portman Road

Ogbene, who joined Ipswich from Luton earlier this week and featured in the Carabao Cup shootout defeat to AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, and club and international team-mate Sam Szmodics both started.

But defender Dara O'Shea, another summer arrival who made his club debut at Wimbledon in midweek, remained on the bench against Fulham.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's first-half thunderbolt earned Wolves their first point of the season in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

French midfielder Bellegarde rifled home his first goal in over eight months, two minutes after Chris Wood has headed Forest into an early lead.

Wolves survived a late VAR check after Wood's effort was ruled out for offside, but they were worthy of their point after defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea in their opening two matches.

Forest extended their unbeaten start, taking five points from their first three fixtures, and boss Nuno Espirito Santo is now unbeaten in three matches as a manager against his former club, having departed Wolves in 2021.

Matt Doherty was a 75th minute substitute for Wolves but Andrew Omobamidele, who has also been named in Heimir Hallgrimsson's first Ireland squad, was not sprung from the Forest bench.
