New or Returning Shows

Gogglebox, 9.00pm, Channel 4

Season 24 of the original show where viewers watch other people watching the telly to hear what they think.

The format remains the same: the armchair critics settle down to a selection of the past week's TV shows, with cameras capturing their instant reactions - the good, bad and occasionally bewildered.

Unmissable Moments at the Proms, 8.00pm, BBC Four

As the title suggests, here’s a whistlestop tour through eight weeks of performances from the spectacular array of superstar musicians who have graced the Albert Hall stage this summer.

From Sam Smith's highly anticipated Proms debut, Mancini's magnificent Moon River and Mark Elder's poignant farewell with Mahler's Fifth, there were innumerable highlights.

Sam Smith

Join the Proms presenters on a journey through this season's best moments, including a Kanneh-Mason rendition of Bob Marley's Redemption Song, Holst's The Planets and Max Richter's On the Nature of Daylight.

Featuring remarkable performances from soloists Isata Kanneh-Mason, Anthony McGill and Yo-Yo Ma.

Celebrity MasterChef, 9.00pm, BBC One

A place in Finals Week is at stake, and obviously none of the semi-finalists want to miss out.

Getting there requires skill, determination and the ability to deliver yet another exceptional plate of food that impresses not only presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace, but also guest judge Grace Dent (below).

The Guardian restaurant critic wants to be spoilt with a dish that screams indulgence, anticipating something that excites the senses and delivers a true taste sensation.

Afterwards, John and Gregg are forced to send one cook home, as only the best five will head into Finals Week.

The Searchers, 9.00pm, TG4

This is not just a great Western, it’s one of the greatest films ever made.

John Ford's in the director’s chair, coaxing great performances from the likes of John Wayne, Natalie Wood, Jeffrey Hunter and Vera Miles.

The story revolves around an embittered American Civil War veteran who sets out to find his niece, who has been abducted by a renegade Comanche tribe.

His search takes him many years, and during the long quest his travelling companion starts to wonder if he intends to rescue her or kill her.

Sport

It’s Shamrock Rovers v Sligo Rovers (KO 7.45pm) live from Tallaght Stadium.

Shamrock Rovers' coach Stephen Bradley

The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title is beyond both teams, but they are competing with Waterford and Galway United to finish in the top three and guarantee European football.

The last meeting between the sides saw The Bit O'Red claim a 2-0 home win in June thanks to a brace by Simon Power. Despite their European exploits this summer, the Hoops have been in poor form domestically and badly need a win.
