Irish artists CMAT, Lankum and Jazzy have been nominated for Ivor Novello awards.

The Ivor Novello Awards recognise the work of British and Irish songwriters and composers across eight categories and have been running since 1956.

The nominees for the prestigious songwriting awards were announced on Tuesday during a ceremony in London.

Irish singer-songwriter CMAT's album Crazymad, For Me and Lankum's False Lankum have both been nominated for best album, meaning that two of the five nominated acts in this category are Irish acts.

Also nominated in this category are London jazz musician Yussef Dayes' Black Classical Music; London-born musician Sampha’s second album Lahai and British singer-songwriter Raye's My 21st Century Blues.

Dance artist Jazzy's hit track Giving Me is in the running for most performed work of the year, which acknowledges commercial success. The song was co-written by Conor Bissett and Robert Griffiths, better known as Irish dance act Belters Only.

Also nominated in this category is British singer PinkPantheress and US rapper Ice Spice's Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2; Harry Styles' As It Was; British singer Kenya Grace’s Strangers; and Dave and Central Cee’s chart-topper Sprinter.

The Irish nominations for Jazzy and CMAT follow on from their BRIT award nods earlier this year.

Lankum's False Lankum recently won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for album of the year, and the group previously won the same accolade in 2019 for The Live Long Day.

The winners of the Ivor Novello Awards will be announced at a ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London on 23 May.

Former winners of Ivor Novellos include Adele, Stormzy, Cathy Dennis, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Joan Armatrading.

Bruce Springsteen will become a Fellow of The Ivors Academy on the night, making him the first-ever international songwriter to receive the honour in its 80-year history.
