A drugs gang dubbed The Commission, linked to the distribution of more than AU$1.8 billion (NZ$1.9 billion) worth of cocaine across Sydney in four months, has been "uprooted" by police.

The NSW Police operation began in July when a 21-year-old man from Guilford in the city's west was charged with two counts of supplying prohibited drugs in large commercial quantities.

He was also charged with knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

The arrest set investigators on the trail of a group allegedly involved in the large-scale supply of cocaine in the NSW capital.

"As investigations continued, detectives uncovered a larger organised crime network known as 'The Commission' which was allegedly controlling the supply and price of cocaine in Sydney," NSW Police said in a statement.

Police allege the group directly controlled the price of cocaine in Sydney by manipulating supply.

They allegedly supplied more than 1.2 tonnes of cocaine between February and July 2024 with an estimated street value of more than AU$1.8 billion (NZ$1.8 billion).

Yesterday, police executed 20 search warrants in homes across Sydney and laid drug-related charges against six men.

During the raids, officers seized 20kg of cocaine, ten cars, AU$800,000 (NZ$869,040) in cash, a Rolex watch, four firearms, two ballistic vests and multiple electronic devices.

Police found another 12kg of cocaine hidden in the cars, taking the street value of the total seized to more than AU$55 million (NZ$59 million).

"Police today have uprooted allegedly one of the most dangerous and destructive groups Sydney has seen to date," NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said.
