Four seriously hurt in Hastings crash — one critically

One person has been critically hurt and three others seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Hastings.

The incident on Maraekakaho Rd at the roundabout intersecting with Longlands Rd and State Highway 2 occurred shortly before 9am.

"SH2 Hastings remains CLOSED between Flaxmere Ave and Longlands Rd," Waka Kotahi wrote on Twitter.

"The detour has been updated. Northbound travellers please detour via Mangaroa Rd, Maraekakaho Rd, Stock Rd, Portsmouth Road, Wilson Rd and Flaxmere Ave. Reverse for Southbound road users."

Hato Hone St John said it took four people to Hawke's Bay Hospital — one in a critical condition and three who were seriously hurt.
