Police name Hawke's Bay man found dead in burnt-out vehicle

Police have named a man who was found dead inside a burnt-out vehicle in Hastings last month.

He was 49-year-old Patrick Teteni Rewiti of Napier.

A 30-year-old has been charged with his murder.

"Police continue their investigation and we continue to support the whānau, dealing with the loss of their loved one in such horrendous circumstances."

Rewiti's body was found in the burnt vehicle on Irongate Rd West on March 26.

The arrest was made on March 29.

The accused was due to make his second appearance in the High Court at Napier today.
