Several major banks, stores reporting outages amid global IT issues

Several major banks and some stores across New Zealand are being affected by system outages this evening.

Crowd-sourced website Downdetector is listing increased numbers of outages for ASB, KiwiBank, ANZ and Microsoft.

Meanwhile, self-checkout machines at a Woolworths store in Auckland said: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."

ABC is also reporting outages affecting institutions in Australia and internationally.

ASB said in a statement its services were affected.

"FastNet Classic and ASB mobile are temporarily unavailable. Our tech team are working on this urgently and we will keep you updated. Thanks for your patience, and we apologise for any inconvenience."

An ANZ spokesperson told 1News some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with credit and debit card transactions.

"We apologise for the inconvenience, the team are working to resolve this as quickly as possible."

In a statement on X, Kiwibank said it was aware of issues currently impacting many banks and businesses across the country.

"Our teams are working to resolve the access issues impacting our App and Internet Banking at the moment, and we hope to have this resolved shortly."

Microsoft said in a post to X it is investigating an issue which is impacting the ability of users to access various apps and services.
