Olympic Games at The Bernard Shaw

If you've fallen deep into the Olympic Games, why not head to the Bernard Shaw to watch all the action in a buzzy location? As well as screening the events from about 12pm all weekend (you can see the listings here), you can check out the many wonderous events that the Glasnevin spot has to offer including Friday's screening of the Galway Races, Saturday's Flea Market, and Sunday's Flower Market.

Dinner with strangers

Hosted in a secret venue within Dublin, Ermantourage Hollywood are hosting a 'Dinner with Strangers' series, bringing groups together for a night on the town. Once you sign up, you'll be surveyed on your likes, dislikes, tastes, hobbies, and dietary choices. From there, the team book the restaurant and away you go. Each gathering is intended to have five registrants minimum and 10 maximum.

Sole Mates x lululemon

Starting from the courtyard of Donnybrook Fair in Dundrum, this free event will, hopefully, help you find your new best running friend (or sole mate, as you might call them). A conversational 5km for beginners, slow runners and everything in between, this event will take place on Sunday, 4 August at 9am.

Return for connection, refreshments and C11 recovery with compression boots, massage guns and ice baths. Be sure to bring a change of clothes and a towel if doing the ice bath. Reserve your place now.

Mix n Mingle Pub Quiz (ages 30-45)

Irish dating company, 2connect.ie, is hosting an informal quiz night for singles aged 30-45. Hosted in The 51 Bar, a sports bar on Haddington Road in Dublin 4, the social event will take place on Friday, 2 Aug, from 8pm-10pm. There will be two men and two women per table. After each round, the men will move to another table. There are four to five rounds with nine questions per round so plenty of time to get to know your temporary teammates. Mother: August Bank Holiday Sunday

Mother is a queer and trans-inclusive space famous for their incredible parties. Open on Sunday, 4 August, for another Bank Holiday Sunday special, the club will welcome special guest Jonjo Jury as well as Mother resident Rocky T Delgado on the decks in the main room. Limited early bird tickets are on sale now from €10 + booking fee.

Board Games Night

Taking place every Sunday at 4pm at Beckett Locke, North Docks, this wholesome (yet competitive) event will welcome seasoned gamers, champion Monopoly winners, first dates, and families looking for a casual night out. Open to all skill levels, admission is free but you should reserve your spot here.

Summer in Dublin

Running from 7 July to 25 August, Sunday afternoons and early evenings celebrate Dublin's rich cultural tapestry with Dublin City Council's 'Summer in Dublin' event. Kicking off at 4pm, this free event will feature a mix of music, dance, art, and delicious food. Click here for more info.

Art & The Outdoors

Taking place on Sat 3 - Sun 4 of August at Parnell Square North in front of Hugh Lane Gallery, this free event is a community celebration inspired by artists who moved out of their studio to paint en plein air or out of doors. Suitable for all ages, the family-friendly programme includes artist-led outdoor drawing, printmaking, pop up art workshops, street art, live music, poetry, street spectacle, face painting, magician, quiet and sensory spaces and more. Family Fun Day

Dublin Book Festival, in collaboration with the OPW, is hosting a day of book and creative events for all the family to enjoy. Taking place in the grounds of Farmleigh in the Phoenix Park, the free event will feature workshops featuring some of Ireland's best-loved children’s authors and illustrators including Niamh Donnellan, Leona Forde, Shane Hegarty, Emma-Jane Leeson, Muireann Ní Chíobháin and Alan Nolan.
