"A lot of the album's themes stem from interpretation and translation, observations and emotional cues," she says.

"I love the nuances in translation on foreign film subtitles, sometimes it’s exaggerated or more beautiful, stand-alone statements that don’t make sense but when accompanied by a visual image, we can see the scene play out."

She plays: 9 May: Whelan's. 10 May: Róisín Dubh, Galway. 11 May: Dolans, Limerick. 12 May: Ulster Sports Bar, Belfast.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I think I saw a ghost once. I stayed in a hotel in Dublin in the early 2000s, it was a recently renovated townhouse. I woke suddenly in the middle of the night and looked up, there was a large dark solid shadow stood at the foot of the bed, it looked like the outline of a man. I was blinking and blinking and opening my eyes really widely as I thought I was dreaming but it was still there, I turned to my husband who was asleep next to me to wake him and when I turned back it had completely disappeared. I didn't feel afraid or threatened, I just couldn't explain it. I told the hotel receptionist in the morning who was flabbergasted!

I used to work at an estate agent showing people around houses, I once showed a young couple around a house. They hated it because it was really nouveau riche and the decor was blingy and 1990s. We had a bit of a laugh about the taste and decor as it was so over the top in each room, they then offered on another house they'd preferred. I later returned to the agency office to be greeted by a furious man with a red face flying towards my desk screaming and shouting at me, I've never seen anyone so mad. Turns out he was the owner of the distasteful house and unbeknown to me he'd been watching the whole house viewing featuring us laughing at his blingy decor remotely via hidden cameras he'd installed inside the house, my boss had to take him into his office and I had to (reluctantly) apologise.

I once saw a nun who was walking down a street in Athens and she had accidentally tucked her habit into the back of her bloomers, you could see everything from behind, including her sock suspenders and knee-high socks, lots of people stood there aghast not saying anything but I was the only person who ran up to her and said 'SISTER, NOOO!" And pointed to my backside until she eventually realised what she had done and was so embarrassed and hurried away.
